Who is Grandmaster de Thouars?

Aside from being one of the most influential instructors our co-founder Dr. Conrad Bui has studied under, Grandmaster de Thouars is also a martial arts pioneer in the United States and hails from a world-renown family of Silat masters.

In fact, it was "Uncle Bill" (as he prefers to be called) and his brothers — Maurice, Paul, and Victor — who introduced Silat to Dan Inosanto. (The Bruce Lee protege later became an Serak instructor under Victor de Thouars and helped perpetuate Silat throughout North America.)

Uncle Bill is also a master of several styles of Kuntao (Chinese martial arts by way of Indonesia) and later combined them to found his own system, Kuntao Silat de Thouars.

Uncle Bill is the last living de Thouars brother and has retired from in-person seminars and public appearances.

These days he sticks to teaching ONLY his core group of private students.
